Quirky, unique and refreshing. If that’s what you look for in a band then allow me to introduce you to Manchester’s finest KAZE.
Formed by Graham McCusker from Paisley and Amy Webber from Kent in February 2016, they formed the band shortly after Graham, originally from Paisley, was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
It’s all good news though while undergoing treatment, they had written 17 songs and after an extremely successful crowd-funder of over £3,000, the band travelled down to Kent to record their debut EP titled No Filter.
With their influences including Fleetwood Mac, The Cardigans and The Beatles, you can notice the hints of these artists within their songs including their debut single Pinned On You.
Pinned On You starts with a fuzzy mixture of piano and guitar mixed together before the striking vocals of Webber, prime and proper yet mesmerising. One of those songs you don’t forget in a hurry, addictive, fresh and extremely different from what’s currently out there. Focusing on where to pin your hopes and dreams, in KAZE, that would be a good place to start.
No Filter was released on March 10th celebrating with a sold-out gig at The Castle in Manchester. Described as “pretty darn tasty” by Jim Gellatly and A lovely, vibrant, edgy, unusual sound” by Tom Robinson of BBC Radio 6, KAZE are a recipe for sheer delight and just like a desert, there’s always room for more with this band.
